BOSTON, July 11, 2013 – AIC Boston Center held an African Iftar. A diverse group, consisting of both Muslims and non-Muslims attended the event.

The Iftar featured:

  • Traditional treats from Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, and other countries
  • African drumming by Sidi Mohammed Camara, known as Jah Camara, Camara is Mali born artist now residing in Boston, MA. He promotes his culture, as well as the cultures of neighboring Guinea, Ivory Coast and Senegal, through music, dance, and language
  • Senegalese calligraphy art  exhibit by Yalimane Fall a visual artist and community activist living in Pikine, Sénégal, who specializes in Arabic calligraphy as contemporary African artistic expression
