BERKELEY, Calif., Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The American Islamic Congress (AIC) and its Project Nur (PN)  will hold their fourth event groundbreaking six-part series, Science and Islam, entitled: Tomorrow’s World: Religion or Science?

Discussion topics will include: Will religion be obsolete in the future? Is science alone enough for humanity? Can we believe in science and Islam or do they conflict?

College students, educators, and anyone interested in current issues related to Islam and science would find the event timely and relevant. The event would provide an opportunity to contribute to this debate through participating in open discussion following the presentations.

Science and Islam is a groundbreaking series of dialogues analyzing the intersection of Islamic faith and science. The series is supported by the John Templeton Foundation.

WHO: Dr. Khaleel Mohammed, Professor of Religion at San Diego State University, will deliver keynote remarks.

Two panelists will make brief remarks before opening the floor for discussion:
Dr. Jalees Rehman, Associate Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and
Dr. Zakyi Ibrahim, Associate Professor of Comparative Religion at California State University

Dr. Shabina Hussain, a public health consultant with extensive clinical experience as a physician in the developing world, will moderate the event.
