WASHINGTON, May 14, 2013 – Last week AIC’s Executive Director Zainab al-Suwaij met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama during a small inter-religious gathering Washington, D.C hosted by Marist College and the Institute for Gilgit Baltistan Studies. Eeligious and community leaders from the Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Buddhist faiths spoke with His Holiness about interfaith harmony with a particular focus on engaging the diverse American Muslim community.
His Holiness’ official website quotes him as saying, “We must aim to end conflict in the name of religion. Your group is small, but it is like a seed. Without a seed there is no growth, but from one seed great things grow. Your work is wonderful and is one of the best ways to fulfill the wishes of the founders of your respective faiths.”
